Arlington, VA — In a strong, bipartisan call to action, over 1,000 prosecutors from across the country have joined the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) in urgently calling on Congress and the Trump Administration to protect and preserve critical programs that support public safety and crime victim services.

This unified coalition of prosecutors from across the political spectrum sends an unequivocal message to policymakers: sustaining public safety and victim services is not negotiable.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) programs are crucial to retaining dedicated, skilled prosecutors in public service. Without these programs, prosecutors’ offices face an escalating retention crisis, jeopardizing prosecutions of violent crimes, drug trafficking, and other critical threats to community safety.

Equally urgent is the immediate passage of the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act. Prosecutors nationwide warn that without swift congressional action, victim support services for domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and other serious crimes face devastating cuts. The proposed legislation provides stable, non-taxpayer-funded resources crucial to maintaining these essential services, directly impacting the safety and well-being of millions of Americans.

“Supporting crime victims of human trafficking, child exploitation, elder abuse, and other violence is a critical legal and ethical imperative for our nation,” said NDAA President, San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan. “Supporting America’s dedicated prosecutors who bring justice for victims and safeguard their communities is critical. It’s essential for Congress and the administration to provide lasting support for public servants and crime victims through permanent solutions for loan forgiveness and victim services funding. Immediate action is crucial.”

Nelson Bunn, Executive Director of NDAA, added, “This overwhelming bipartisan coalition of prosecutors sends an undeniable message to lawmakers and the administration: swift action is urgently needed. Our prosecutors are on the front lines every day, ensuring justice and community safety. Their collective call underscores the dire consequences of inaction. Policymakers must act now to protect these vital programs.”

NDAA thanks prosecutors nationwide for their extraordinary advocacy efforts and urgently calls on Congress and the Trump administration to heed this call for action, reinforcing their commitment to justice, public safety, and victim support.
